WWPFG 2008 Conference

Competition Guidelines and Policies 

General Guidelines that apply to ALL competition categories:First Place Ribbon

(Further specific guidelines that apply to each individual category are listed with the category description.)

Deadline for receiving artwork is June 19, 2008.

  1. You may enter only one submission per category.
  2. All entries must be done by an individual (single person).
  3. All entries must be original and not submitted to any previous competitions.
  4. Pictures must be framed.  Frame size may not exceed 16"x20".
  5. Your name, address, and category number must appear on the back of the picture.
  6. All entries must have wired hanging aperture (no saw tooth or other small hanging apertures allowed).
  7. You need to include $2 for each picture submitted.
  8. You need to add return postage to your cost when mailing in your artworks.
  9. You do not have to pay the conference registration fee if you are only mailing in entries for competition but do not attend the conference in person.
  10. All pictures over 8X10 must use acrylic instead of glass.

    Not permitted:
  11. No signature, personal stamp, or identifying marking on the front of the picture.
  12. No digital output, cutout images, or stamped images may be included.

All submissions must include filled-out registration form and required return postage and fees.

Entry removal time is Monday 6/23/2008 5PM.

Although the World Wide Pressed Flower Guild will exercise due caution in
safeguarding competition  and exhibit pieces, the Guild or its members cannot assume
responsibility for injury, damage, or loss.  Valuables used in the competition and
exhibits should be insured by each individual.

All entries are judged based on its originality, design, condition and choice of material, color, and craftsmanship. A panel of judges will score each entry. The entry receiving highest score wins. Our judges are well respected pressed flower artists.

The Theme for competition is “It’s a Small World

Category #1  "Mini Bouquet"

Design must be 5X7 or smaller.

Only pressed plant material (flowers, foliage, fruits, and vegetables) may be used.

This category is open only for those who have not won a first place award in any pressed flower competition.

Not permitted:

  • Artificial coloring or enhancement of the pressed material.
  • 3-dimension materials of any kind such as seeds, small twigs and branches or any plant material that is not pressed flat.
  • Drawing and/or painting of the background.
  • If matting is used, it must function only as matting and not as part of the picture design.

Category #2  "One Dream"

Create a picture of your imagination.

The majority of the picture must be comprised of pressed plant material.  Watercolor, pastel, acrylic, or
oil is allowed on the background.

Not permitted:

  • Artificial coloring or enhancement of the pressed material.
  • 3-dimension materials of any kind such as seeds, small twigs and branches or any plant material that is not pressed flat.
  • If matting is used, it must function only as matting and not as part of the picture design.

Category #3  "Long Ago And Far Away"

Only pressed plant material (flowers, foliage, fruits, and vegetables) may be used.

Not permitted: 

  • Artificial coloring or enhancement of the pressed material.
  • 3-dimension materials of any kind such as seeds, small twigs and branches or any plant material that is not pressed flat.
  • Drawing and/or painting of the background.
  • If matting is used, it must function only as matting and not as part of the picture design.
