I am
originally from Paris, France and presently live in a very small coastal
town in Northern California, among the giant redwoods. Paris may be
the most beautiful city in the world but this place is paradise. The Pacific
ocean and the redwood forest dominate the region, no one living here is
immune to the influence of nature.I have traveled extensively for most of my life,
occasionally I had the chance to live extended periods of time in exotic
lands. Everywhere, I put my hands in the dirt and planted a garden. In the
island of Cyprus I grew fantastic cosmos thoroughly pick up every morning by
my two young children, in Palo Alto I took a piece of the lawn for my
tomatoes, in Bali nothing grew well….Here all plants are happy. With retirement from teaching and new activities the
flowers in my garden inspired me to open a “dry flower shop”, then I
made bouquets and wreaths, at time it felt by the thousands, the shop was a
success. When I was gone on a trip, I would leave the shop in a
friend’s hands, and found it practically empty upon return. I did not want
to hire employees….Decided to close it, but not before giving a weak try
at “pressed flowers”. These first tries are already quite a few years back. I
did not know exactly how to proceed and what to expect just read books and
tried. Friends coming by my house would always comment on how
beautiful the compositions where. Finally one of them offered to put
them for sale in her shop, they sold and they keep selling… Eventually I came across the Guild and discovered so
many artists, willing to share their knowledge and friendship. Now I
can’t think of doing anything else, when I travel it is with a flower
press. …Plants and flowers are everywhere.
