Executive Committee Biography

I spent my formative years in Siberia although I was born in Poland. I grew up surrounded by the lush Siberian taiga and it is there that my love of nature took root. Ever since then I am drawn to nature and feel most at home when surrounded by trees and flowers.

I came to Canada when I was 16. Subsequently I attended the University of Montreal and got my BA in Languages and Literatures. Later I obtained Master's Degree In Library and information Science from the University of Toronto.

My career experience ranges from heading a university-affiliated library, to introducing automation to two corporate libraries, and a special Canada - Ukraine project as an Automation Specialist, introducing bilingual automation to a Parliamentary Resource Centre in Kiev, Ukraine.

I am married and have two grown sons and a daughter and one cutest granddaughter.

Pressing flowers in books was my hobby for many years. Three years ago my colleagues in one of the libraries, who knew about my love-affair with flowers, gave me a gift of a microwave press. When I saw the result I was seriously hooked. Since then I've had a two-week long art show at the Toronto Botanical Gardens and participated in One of a Kind Trade Show, as well as some art and craft shows. My dream is to have an art gallery featuring my own creations.

Joining the Guild was one of the best moves I ever made. This has truly been a total immersion in the well of pressed flower art experience. Above all, I am now a part of a community of people who are as passionate about this art as I am and who are willing to share their knowledge and work tirelessly to promote it to the world at large.
